Which Baby Formula Products Were Subject to Recall?
Abbott Laboratories issued a voluntary recall for its Similac, Alimentum, and Elecare products after four children developed infections that required hospitalization. The FDA has cautioned parents to avoid these products if:
- the first two digits of the serial number are 22 through 37;
- the serial code contains K8, SH, or Z2, and;
- the expiration date is April 1st, 2022, or later.
Although the affected products were manufactured in Michigan, the four cases of infection occurred in Texas, Ohio, and Minnesota, so it’s likely that these products are in other areas of the country as well. All parents should avoid these products and tell others about the danger, especially if you have friends or family with young children.
